A local angler (70) was swept off rocks by waves, this week, in the vicinity of Voelklip, Herolds Bay.

NSRI rescue swimmers, from both its rescue stations, responded to the incident.

Rescue vehicles also responded as well as the SA Police Services, the WC Government Health EMS, CPF (George Community Police Forum) members,  Police divers (Police WPDS – Water Policing and Diving Services) and George Fire and Rescue Services.

Authorities suspect the man was swept off during the turn of the Spring low tide.

An EMS rescue drone unit was deployed in an aerial search.

Fishing gear belonging to the missing man was located and recovered from the water during search efforts.

Despite extensive air, sea and shoreline search efforts, there has been no sign of the man.
