The first 37,920 doses of HIV prevention medicine (Lenacapavir) arrived in South Africa, last week.
Foster Mohale, Spokesperson at the Department of Health, said in a brief on Wednesday, Lenacapavir will boost the country’s efforts to reduce HIV infections, by 2030, and sustain the response to line up with the global strategy.
It will be administered twice a year, every 6 months.
Aaron Motsoaledi, the Minister of Health, is expected to launch the implementation plan for the medicine, in a few weeks.
