Sweden made a multi-year investment of SEK 8 billion in the Green Climate Fund’s (GCF) current funding period.

The Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said this illustrates long-term climate leadership, for the world’s largest climate finance donor.

Sweden is also co-chairing the Green Climate Fund (GCF).

The GCF announced seven new climate action projects moved from approval to being ready for implementation, after the signing of their Funded Activity Agreements.

The seven projects are strengthening Chad’s Adaptation for Land, Ecosystems and Smallholders with ACTED, the Climate Risk Protection Shield for Zambian Smallholder Farmers with the Ministry of Finance and National Planning (Zambia), scaling up national adaptive capacities for climate change-driven natural hazards through monitoring and early warning systems with the Environmental Project Implementation Unit of the State Agency of the Ministry of Nature Protection of the Republic of Armenia (EPIU).

Others are building community resilience to the Adverse Effects of Climate Change with an Emphasis on Food Security and Gender Considerations in Priority Areas of Ecuador, Jamaica, the Amazon and Mozambique.
