50 informal homes were burnt down by a fire, at the Plastic View Informal Settlement, East of Pretoria, on Sunday morning.
Over 100 people were displaced as a result.
Police (SAPS) Forensic Investigation Team also recovered the body of an adult male, at the scene.
The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) and ESD, said an investigation into the cause of the fire, is underway.
Aaron Maluleka, MMC for Human Settlements, in Tshwane, said teams are also verifying information about affected households.
This is because assistance can only be provided to affected families once the verification and counting process has been completed.
