Police found a large consignment of illicit Remington Gold cigarettes, valued at about R600 000, in Polokwane.
The goods were found in a car that fled a stop and search by the police.
The Provincial Flying Squad caught up with the suspect and discovered illegal cigarettes in his car.
In a separate incident this week, a 32-year-old male suspect was arrested at Shongoane 2 village, within the Villa Nora policing area, in the Waterberg Region, on Wednesday.
He was found in possession of 42 cartons of Remington Gold Blue cigarettes with an estimated street value of R8 200.
He was then charged with the possession and dealing in illicit cigarettes and is expected to appear before the local Magistrate’s Court soon.
