Electrical Components, including high‐tension overhead lines, were stolen at the Johannesburg’s Central Substation, on Thursday.
This follows a fire at the same substation, last week Friday.
This is a double blow to residents and business in that part of Johannesburg.
City Power said technicians confirmed this morning that key materials were missing to restore electricity speedily.
This has led to a delay in supply, for Commissioner Street East, Albert Street West, Fox Street West, Marshall Street West and Marshall Street East.
The estimated time of full power restoration has been revised to 20:00, on Friday, the 30 April 2026.
Mangena also advised customers to unplug all appliances, to prevent inrush current when electricity supply is restored.
