Parts of the Johannesburg City Centre is closed to traffic on Tuesday.
The Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) urged motorists and the public to avoid the Johannesburg CBD, due to a “blitz” at the Marble Towers precinct.
Dada Morero, Joburg’s Mayor and Patrick Jaca, JMPD Chief of Police, and a diverse team of law enforcement and governmental agencies, will conduct a high-visibility, multi-disciplinary law enforcement and service delivery operation.
As a result, affected streets are Von Wielligh, Rahima Moosa Street (formerly Jeppe Street) and Pritchard Street.
JMPD said to expect heavy delays in the inner city.
Motorists are advised to use alternative north-south routes, such as Troye Street or Delvers Street.
