Johannesburg Water systems are expected to begin full recovery, following Rand Water’s completion of the first phase of maintenance on Tuesday.
Nombuso Shabalala, Spokesperson for Johannesburg Water, said full recovery of the Commando system, South Hills and Crown Gardens, is expected to take between three to five days.
Storage levels continue to improve at both systems.
However, recovery remains constrained, at the Commando system (Brixton/Crosby/Hursthill).
But recovery continues, at Diepsloot, Rabie Ridge and President Park reservoirs.
Overnight operational interventions remain in place to support recovery.
The second phase of the Rand Water maintenance, to affect Johannesburg Water systems, will occur on the 17 July 2026.
