About five (5) out of twelve (12) depots managed by Pikitup, are experiencing operational disruptions.
Pikitup, a waste management entity of the City of Johannesburg, said its Avalon Depot is the most affected.
Casual workers at the entity are demanding permanent employment.
Several blockades were lifted, including at the Randburg and Marlboro depots as well as at Waterval.
Although there were no protests at the Roodepoort Depot, services are constrained due to a shortage of compactor trucks.
Antony Selepe, Spokesperson of Pikitup, said the entity continues to engage relevant stakeholders to resolve the current impasse, while implementing operational measures to minimise service disruptions.
