The United Nations (UN) High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development is well underway in New York.
David Mahlobo, Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation, Seiso Mohai, Deputy Minister of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (DPME), and Ambassador Mxolisi Nkosi, are representing South Africa at the event.
Speaking at a side event, Mahlobo reflected on South Africa’s progress but also acknowledged challenges.
He said there is a need for stronger leadership, partnerships and sustainable financing to fast track reliable water service delivery.
The South African delegation also had a session with Lounès Magramane, Secretary-General (Vice Minister) of the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, and with Amar Bendjama, the Permanent Representative of Algeria to the United Nations.
