Clean rivers in water-scarce South Africa became central in Tshwane, over the weekend.
Jack Bloom, Deputy Minister of Forestry, launched the 2026 Clear Rivers Campaign at the Apies River in Pretoria North.
While there is no communicated plan around the campaign, various stakeholders joined Monday’s clean up, including Rand Water, TCTA, Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa and the City of Tshwane.
The Department said in an update, the campaign “aims to inspire every South African to take responsibility for protecting the country’s precious water resources.”
The campaign aims to promote environmental awareness and responsible water resource management, encourage volunteerism and active citizen participation in protecting rivers and freshwater ecosystems.
