People travelling to South Africa from Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) will now have to complete a health questionnaire, due to the Ebola virus outbreak.
The Department of Health announced this latest move, on Monday.
The decision comes as Ebola cases are on the increase, with some 2,344 confirmed cases, resulting in about 930 deaths.
Most of these cases are in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), with about 20 reported in neighbouring Uganda.
But Uganda discharged its last remaining patient on July 16 and has entered a 42-day countdown to be declared Ebola-free.
According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), the virus is still active in 38 health zones of the DRC, which were reported in the last 21 days.
The zones are in five provinces, including Ituri (27/36 HZ), North Kivu (11/34 HZ), South Kivu (1/34 HZ), Haut-Uele (4/13 HZ) and Tshopo (3/23 HZ).
Some organisations raising alarm about the number of confirmed cases, include the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, who are concerned that the outbreak surpassed 1,000 confirmed cases within 40 days of response activation.
