At least three (3) of the five (5) antivenom products are now available.
This follows just over 16 months without, due to necessary renovations at the premises of the SA Vaccine Producers (SAVP).
Professor Koleka Misana, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Health Laboratory Service (NHL) , wrote a letter to stakeholders on Monday, informing them that scorpion antivenom is now available, as well as that for echis and boomslang.
Antivenom against spider bites is still out of stock and also polyvalent.
Misana also said teams continue to manufacture to release the outstanding batches by the end of October (31st).
She also said the manufacturing of antivenom is an intricate and highly specialised process.
