The South African Weather Service (SAWS) warned against damaging winds and waves (at Level 2) along the KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) coast on Friday.
These conditions are expected to make navigation at sea difficult and could also disrupt beachfront activities.
Several incidents were reported in KZN waters this week, including numerous calls for medical assistance after a boat capsized in Durban North outside the Beechwood Golf Club.
The NSRI in Durban said bystanders rescued some victims, along with SAPS, Metro Police Search and Rescue.
One man died in the incident.
