Six suspects were arrested in Kimberley on Thursday, whilst still trying to strip off copper cables.
Police from Kimberley were conducting routine patrols around Florianville, in Kimberley, at around 20:10, when they received information about stolen cables.
Upon arrival at the scene, they found five males and one female.
They questioned them about the cables, but they failed to provide a satisfactory explanation.
They were then arrested for being in possession of suspected stolen property.
The suspects are between the ages of 27 and 53.
Major General Charlotte Makgari, the District Commissioner of the Frances Baard District, commended police efforts.
Stolen cables are valued at about R16 913.05.
