There were several electricity outages in the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, since Tuesday.
The Armstrong Substation had a fault, affecting section of Helenvale, Malabar Extension 6 and surrounding areas.
Upon further investigation, the Municipality found the T1 and T2 11kV circuit breakers tripped.
This week, Babalwa Lobishe, Mayor of the Municipality, said electricity distribution security remains central to the Municipality’s strategy to stimulate economic growth, attract investment and improve essential municipal services.
As a result, some R60 million was allocated to two electricity projects in Summerstrand and Coega areas.
About R35 million is going towards the Chelsea-Summerstrand 132 KV powerline and R25 million for reinforcing the electricity network in the Coega Special Economic Zone.
She also said a further R13 million would be allocated to “uncategorised municipal electrical infrastructure.”
