Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, Minister of Electricity and Energy, hosted Maria Gustava, the High Commissioner of the Republic of Mozambique, in Pretoria, this week.

The two had a bilateral meeting to discuss energy related issues.

South Africa currently imports more than 1000 megawatts of power from Cahora Bassa, while Pretoria also provides electricity to South32, a smelter in Mozambique.

Last year, South Africa signed a new Memorandum of Understanding on Energy Cooperation, as part of the two countries Bi-National Commission held in Maputo, to strengthen economic and strategic ties.
