A hiker lost on a day trail, on Monday, was found alive, on Tuesday, near Rhino Peak in the Garden Castle Nature Reserve.
Musa Mntambo, Spokesperson of Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife, gave a sigh of relief, after teams went searching for the man on Monday night.
“A heartfelt thank you to our Conservation Manager, James Mthembu, and his team, who worked through difficult weather and snow conditions trying to reach him last night. Thank you also to the Mountain Club for standing by and assisting with the rescue effort, including sending the rescue helicopter.”
Mntambo also reminded hikers to please complete the hiking register before setting out. He also urged hikers to avoid walking alone, where possible.
Several hikers were reported lost in the world, this week.
Earlier in August, a Wilderness Search and Rescue teams found a student hiking group stranded, at the start of August, on Table Mountain.
