About eighteen (18) people were killed on Monday, in the Colombian city of Pereira, when an earthquake struck.

Authorities said the quake had a magnitude of 7.4.

Its epicentre was about 280 kilometers (or about 173 miles) west of Bogotá.

Bogotá, is home to about eight million people.

There was also structural damage reported at  homes, in Paratebueno and nearby villages, as well as cracked roads, and damaged churches.
