Five suspects were arrested for being in the unlawful possession of two pangolins, in Hoedspruit and Gravelotte.
The pangolins were uncovered during a sting operation targeting illegal wildlife traders, on Friday.
The police worked closely with the Endangered Species Units in Phalaborwa and Hoedspruit.
Multiple other organisations who also participated in the operation, are the Scales Pangolin Rescue Fund, Hoedspruit Animal Hospital – ProVet, Umoya Khulula Wildlife Centre, Wildlife Crime Information Network and African Pangolin Working Group.
