There were two wildfires reported over the weekend, one at Sanctuary Peak/Kogel Bay and the other at Somersfontein/Solva (Grabouw).
Authorities suspect that both were ignited by lighting strikes.
Firefighters from CapeNature and City of Cape Town, were at both scenes.
The fire at Sanctuary Peak/Kogel Bay was burning at an inaccessible terrain on Saturday evening.
On Friday afternoon, the City of Cape Town’s Fire & Rescue Service dispatched an Incident Management Team (IMT5) to the City’s boundary to monitor a fire burning in the neighbouring Kogelbaai area.
The Drone Unit was deployed to provide aerial intelligence and monitor the fire’s movement, while additional firefighting resources were moved into Strand.
