The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) office bearers are expected to address the media on Tuesday.

Irvin Jim, General Secretary of NUMSA, said in a statement on Tuesday “the National Executive Committee (NEC) has dealt decisively with the current organisational anarchy that has engulfed NUMSA following the collapsed Central Committee (CC) meeting on 27 August, and the recent bogus CC decisions that were communicated by an unelected group of individuals who are on a desperate effort to capture the power of the democratically elected national leadership of NUMSA.”

This follows rumours that party insiders want both Chirwa and Jim out.

But he clarified that the structure is intact and office bearers are Andrew Chirwa -President of NUMSA, Mac Chavalala – First Deputy President, Puleng Phaka -Second Deputy President himself (Irvin Jim), as General Secretary, Mbuso Ngubane, Deputy General Secretary and Mphumzi Maqungo, National Treasurer.
