A fire broke out opposite Du Kloof Lodge, between Paarl and Rawsonville, on Monday.

The Cape Winelands District Municipality’s (CWDM) Fire Services said resources deployed to the fire, were vehicles, crews and ground teams.

The fire remained active, with a long patchy fire line.

But ground teams from CapeNature and CWDM Fire Services were sent to the fire on Monday evening.

The fire line was contained on Tuesday and there are currently no visible flames.

Fresh ground teams were deployed to continue monitoring and mopping-up operations throughout the day to prevent any flare-ups.

No damage to property or injuries were reported, and all roads remain open.

This is the second fire reported in the District, since Sunday evening’s veld fire, near Witzenberg Valley, in Tulbagh.

The Municipality said it sent two ground teams to the fire just above Steinthal, near Witzenberg Valley in Tulbagh.

The fire was later contained during the night, with just one ground team.
