Ampli Energy, a partnership between DiscoveryGreen and Sasol, was launched this week.
Speaking at the event, Andre Nepgen, Head of Discovery Green, said “we are thrilled to announce the launch of a market-first renewable energy product resulting from a groundbreaking partnership between Discovery Green and Sasol.”
He also said “by combining our platform with Sasol’s leadership in the energy sector, Ampli Energy aims to bring something new and exciting to the market – month-to-month renewable energy with no commitments, no costs, no risks – just monthly cashback for going green.”
Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, the Minister of Electricity and Energy, was also at the launch.
He said this initiative is a significant milestone, made possible by the recent amendments to the electricity bill, which enable private generation of electricity and the participation of business in the energy sector.
“These reforms not only promote sustainability but also foster economic resilience and innovation in the face of South Africa’s energy landscape” he said.
