Another fire broke out in the Overstrand Municipality’s Fisherhaven, near storage facilities, on Thursday afternoon, just after 2pm.
Dean O’Neill, the Municipality’s Manager, said the crew is busy with structural protection and working hard to contain and extinguish the fire.
In addition, residents within close proximity of the fire are being evacuated.
This fire happened just as the Cape Winelands District’s Fire Services, have expressed concern over the increase in fires, in Kylemore, Johannesdal, Bethlehem and Pniel.
The District has therefore called on communities to remain vigilant.
JP Smith, MMC for Public Safety in Cape Town, said there were at least 632 fires in the Western Cape, in just a week.
The fires have required both aerial and ground resources.
