The Brakfontein substation, was rebuilt, subsequent to a fire that gutted its supply components, leaving thousands of residents in Centurion, in the dark, for more than 12 days.

Dr Nasiphi, Tshwane’s Executive Mayor and Frans Boshielo, MMC for Utilities, visited the station this week.

The power was restored to the transformer, and it is now live, but not yet connected to homes.

Alta de Kock, Ward Councillor of the area, said in a notice, residents will be notified before switching begins.

de Kock also asked residents to switch off appliances, such as geysers, pool pumps, aircons and electric stoves.

This is expected to protect households and the network from power surges when the electricity is switched back on.
