The fire close to Glen Clairn Expressway, broke out around midday on Thursday.
JP Smith, Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, for Cape Town, said multiple resources were despatched, as a result.
The fire was duelled by strong wind.
The NCC Environmental Services also fought alongside other stakeholders, to combat the fire running within the Table Mountain National Park.
This, while crews were despatched to Overcome Heights, Vrygrond, where a fire destroyed 45 informal homes.
Similarly, 80 structures burnt to the ground in Khayelitsha.
Smith said “it’s days like today, where disaster can strike in an instant, which confirms the previous difficult decisions of constantly investing into our Fire and Rescue service. On any typical day, each of our 32 firestations has a fire engine with a full crew, ready to go.”
He continued to say “with enough fire engines, water tankers, specialized aerial platforms and rescue vehicles, and our recent investment that saw us expand our firefighting crew even further, we must remain alert and always ready to handle any situation.”
