CEOs of various companies in Joburg are expected to join the City of Johannesburg’s cleaning teams on the ground, on Wednesday, 12 November 2025.
Cleaning will start in the inner City to Braamfontein, then move to Hillbrow, Berea and Yeoville, to roll out to Kliptown.
Speaking at a media launch, in Braamfontein on Tuesday, Dada Morero, Mayor of Johannesburg, said the clean up of the City would not be a once off.
“This is not a three day campaign…This marks the beginning of a sustained partnership, that will transform the way we manage Johannesburg” he said.
Although the CEO-City Partnership Programme, kicks in tomorrow, initiatives to keep the City tidy, will be supported by the Bomb Squad.
The team has restored parks, pruned trees, repaired sewers, removed illegal structures and rehabilitated bridges, in the Bara Precinct, Dobsonville, Yeoville and De Villiers Street.
Morero further urged residents to join in protecting spaces that are being restored.
“The City has carried the weight of decay, service delivery backlogs and eroded public trust.”
The turnaround plan is expected to continue post the G20 event.
