City Power reported an outage of its online systems on Christmas Day.

The outage affects both operational and communication platforms.

The dispatch systems, used to allocate and deploy field teams are also down.

This has also hampered the ability to receive and log fault reports, communicate internally and externally.

Isaac Mangena, Spokesperson of City Power, said in a statement,  “our IT Department is currently attending to the matter. At present, all major systems are down, including Force-link, Outlook, SCADA, landlines and cell phones. As a result, our System Control team is currently operating without visibility of the electricity network, meaning we are unable to remotely monitor faults, manage switching operations, or track outages in real time.”

Mangena said customers should follow the local power utility on social media and WhatsApp channels, for updates.
