The Waterberg Research Scientific Center is part of collaborative efforts studying the Melanitis Leda, whose common name is the Common Evening Brown.

The Melanitis Leda Project is a global research project focusing on a butterfly. It is based at the Adam Mickiewics University in Poznan (Poland).

The project has partners across Africa, Asia and Austalia, with the aim of assisting scientists to understand more about the Melanitis leda (Common Evening Brown) species.

Understanding its wide distribution and how it copes and adapts under different climatic conditions and habitats, is important. It could be  a good indicator of environmental change.

The team at the WRSC spent time with the project team, at Lapalala Wilderness, to get training on sampling methodology, to be undertaken every month.
