The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has warned against damaging winds and heavy rains in Gauteng, Eastern Free State, the North West, Mpumalanga and the south eastern parts of Limpopo, on Thursday.
This expected to continue into Friday.
SAWS has warned against Yellow Level 4 of severe thunderstorms in the central and western parts of the Free State, on Friday.
Similar but lesser conditions at level 2, are also expected to prevail in the North West, the central and southern parts of Gauteng, the eastern parts of the Northern Cape and the Free State as well as the Eastern Cape.
Even lesser thunderstorms at level 1, are expected in the southern parts of KwaZulu Natal.
As a result, the City of eThekwini has advised residents to take precautionary action, and stay indoors, where possible.
In a statement, the City said “the public is reminded not to cross swollen rivers and streams.”
The SAWS also warned against extremely high fire danger conditions over the central and western parts of the Eastern Cape, the
central and eastern parts of the Northern Cape and Western Cape.
