Fears of a possible Salmonella contamination, led to the recall of about 115,045 dry dog and cat food, produced by RCL Foods.

Phetho Ntaba, Spokesperson of the National Consumer Commission (NCC) said different batches and sizes were recalled, including Bobtail, Catmore, Canine Cuisine, Optimizor, Ultra Pet, Feline Cuisine, Bonzo and Optiwoof.

“RCL Foods has advised the NCC that certain condemned batches linked to potential Salmonella contamination have been found in retail channels” said Ntaba.

Salmonella is a bacterial health risk to both humans and animals.

Consumers are urged to stop using products and also to return them.
