City Power revised the time of recovery of electricity supply, from Monday, the 05th to Thursday, the 08 October 2026.
This is after a third fire this year, broke out at the central fire station, leaving most parts of the inner city of Johannesburg, without electricity, last week.
Recovery is reported to be around 65%, as teams continue with repairs, testing and switching.
Supply was restored to the several areas, including Carlton Centre, Standard Bank,Selby, End Street, Wemmer West, Wemmer East, Selby Central, and Anderson Street West.
Restoration efforts experienced a setback on Monday, when technical challenges at Karzene Substation interrupted incoming supply to Central Substation.
But repairs there, were completed, when an electrical flashover during an attempt to switch Central Substation, delayed progress.
But work continues at Albert Street West, Commissioner Street East, Fox Street West, Marshall Street East, Marshall Street West, Standby OII and Anderson Street East.
