Eskom said the system remains stable to meet winter electricity demand, including this weekend’s cold front.

The Energy Availability Factor (EAF) of fourteen power stations is at a combined + 70%, which reflects progress in plant performance.

Daphne Mokwena, Eskom Spokesperson, said on Friday, when system constraints arise, they are managed through the targeted use of emergency reserves, during morning and evening peak periods.

“An additional four stations are operating above 60%, reflecting the fleet’s growing stability and improved reliability.
Since 15 May 2025, there has been no loadshedding, with loadshedding only implemented for 26 hours- between 1 April and 31 July 2025” said Mokwena.

Unplanned outages were at 8,525 Megawatts (MW), on Friday, while generation capacity, was at 30, 882MW.

About 3, 075MW of generation capacity is expected to return to service, ahead of evening peak, on Monday, 4 August 2025.
