City Power said it has restored 98% of power supply lost on Sunday 22 December 2024, due to a fire.
The fire is believed to have begun as a result of cable theft and vandalism.
Isaac Mangena’s City Power said all distributors from Central Substation that were affected are now back on, with the exception of Standard bank distributor.
He also said there was a cable fault identified from that distributor, which must be repaired before full power supply can be restored.
Most parts that were affected by the outage over Christmas, are now back on, such as parts of the Johannesburg CBD, Marshalltown, City and Suburban, Selby, and surrounding areas.
All areas are expected to have 100% power supply by Monday.
