The Grootspruit Solar Project, was launched this week in Allanridge, Matjhabeng.

It is a R1.4 billion solar initiative, with a substation designed to ensure the Loop-In-Loop-Out (LILO) overhead line connects to an existing Eskom power line.

This connection is crucial for providing an uninterrupted energy supply to homes, businesses, and industries within the municipality.
Speaking at the launch of the event, Thanduxolo Khalipha, Executive Mayor of Matjhabeng Municipality said the project is important for both local power supply and the generation of significant employment opportunities in the area.

He emphasized the need to subcontract local SMMEs to secure business opportunities.
