A resident wrote a moving message about ongoing heavy downpours which have left a trail of damage in the Greater Letaba Municipality.
“Limpopo is drowning in floods. Homes destroyed, families displaced, and lives turned upside down by these heavy rains” he said.
Floods have also damaged Bodupe Pavement and Mamakata Bridge.
Dagma Mamanyoha, Mayor of Greater Letaba Municipality, went to visit areas affected on Monday afternoon, prior to even bigger rains forecast at level 9 by the weather service (SAWS).
“Given the ongoing heavy rainfall, implementing repair plans immediately will be challenging. We are on the ground to understand the damage and find solutions,” said Mamanyoha.
Residents are warned against crossing heavily flooded streams and rivers, emphasizing the potential risk to their lives.
The Tzaneen dam is at 103% full.
