The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a Level 4 warning for severe thunderstorms and heavy rains for today.
The SAWS also said a cut-off low pressure system, is expected to lead to heavy rainfall in the Overberg and Cape Winelands.
This is expected to lead to localized flooding, affecting informal settlements and low- lying areas the most.
The Theewaterskloof Municipality said its
disaster response are on high alert.
It further advised motorists, in a statement, to exercise caution when travelling, as roads may be wet.
“We further advise residents and visitors to avoid crossing rivers and swollen streams where water is above the ankles.”
