Hurricane Polo has intensified immensely into a category five (5) storm.
It is currently offshore Mexico.
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the storm has one-minute average wind speeds of at least 74 mph or 119 kilometres an hour.
President Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico, urged residents along the Pacific coast to move offshore.
The United States (US) Embassy in Mexico, said in an advisory that if the storm does not make direct landfall, heavy rain may produce life-threatening flooding and mudslides.
Flights and roads could be impacted.
