Hurricane Polo is has not made landfall in Mexico, but has already caused damage to property, south west of Mexico, along the coast.
Waves of up to 4.5 meters high were recorded at Michoacán and Guerrero.
Tropical storm Odalys is also strengthening and could become a hurricane, according to the National Hurricane Centre (NHC).
Areas to be affected are the United States Gulf, Atlantic coasts, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
It is currently heading to Hawaii as a Category 1 hurricane, but the NHC says it could intensify to a Category 3 hurricane.
