The Kgaswane Mountain Reserve fire has burnt more than 10,000 hectares of land, in a week.

The Working on Fire- Kishugu Joint Venture (WoF) provided an account of aerial and ground resources used to tackle the fire in the North West province.

The fire in Kgaswane Mountain Reserve, was officially extinguished on the 1st of October 2024.

The blaze was ignited at the Kgaswane Group Camp and rapidly spread over to the Kgaswane Mountain Reserve and Kgaswane Western Boundries burning property and livestock.

WoF said more than 90 firefighters supported by aerial resources assisted in suppressing the fire,  difficult raging winds.

The teams in the North West, have suppressed about 70 wildland fires, since the start of the winter season.
