This week, BirdLife will be hosting three special Conservation Conversations webinars as part of the South African Bird Fair from 20-22 August 2024.

– On 20 August “Seeing Birds with New Ears.” Would you want to live in a world without bird sound? An orchestra of bird voices is performing all around us – every second of every day, as it has for millions of years. Join author and artist Faansie Peacock on an incredible journey into the world of bird sounds.
– 21 August “In search of the Orange-tufted Spiderhunter.” Peter Kaestner is a retired U.S. diplomat and an active independent birder who has spent a lifetime sharing his passion. On 9 February 2024, he achieved his supreme goal when he saw his 10,000th species, an Orange-tufted Spiderhunter in the Philippines.
– 22 August “Birding ‘Greater’ Southern Africa – breaking the boundaries.” Keith Barnes will talk about his new book ‘Birds of Greater Southern Africa’, its genesis, philosophy, and what makes it different. He will also delve into the concept of birding beyond the traditional boundaries of the region, and what it means for international collaboration, conservation and simple, unbridled fun.
