Babalwa Lobishe, Mayor of Nelson Mandela Bay Metro, conducted an oversight visit to the Kelvin Jones Wastewater Treatment Works (WWTW) in Kariega on Tuesday.
The plant processes an estimated 24 million litres of wastewater per day and plays a vital role in protecting public health, the environment, and the local economy.
The Municipality invested R6 million to support infrastructure upgrades and improve operational performance.
This investment is also expected to reduce the risk of flooding in surrounding industrial areas, protecting businesses, residents, and critical economic activities.
