Maintenance and repair work at the Malgas Pont/Ferry, continues past its scheduled due date.
The manually operated pontoon, crosses the Breede River.
Initially maintenance was expected to end on the 20 March, but is now going on until Thursday, 02 April 2026.
Eben Phillips, Acting Municipal Manager at the Overberg District Municipality, said the hold up is a survey conducted by the South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA), which is a requirement of the maintenance process.
“Every effort is being made to complete the necessary work as soon as possible, with the aim of reopening the service in time for the Easter weekend” said Phillips.
