Residents continue to share pictures of flooded areas, since Wednesday’s rains, in Roodepoort, Heidelberg, parts of Pretoria, Kempton Park, Benoni and Welkom, in the Free State.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) had warned against thunderstorms (level 5) leading to flooding, damage to settlements, property, vehicles and infrastructure over the central and northern interior of the Eastern Cape.

A Yellow Level 2 warning was also issued over the extreme Eastern part of the Eastern Cape. Similar conditions are also expected over the eastern North West, Gauteng, Mpumalanga Highveld as well as the extreme north-eastern parts of KwaZulu Natal.
