The ElandsValley road is currently closed.
This is due to a crash inside the Waterval Boven Tunnel on the N4 Section, in Mpumalanga.
Motorists are urged to use Schoemanskloof, as an alternative route until further notice.
The crash at the Waterval tunnel is the second big accident on Thursday. The first was a bus crash on the N1 road curve Northbound, between Makhado and Musina in the early hours of the morning.
Five people lost their lives in that accident.
The South African National Roads Agency (SANRAL) said in a statement on Thursday afternoon, the Minister of Transport, Barbara Creecy, and Deputy Minister, Mkhuleko Hlengwa, have directed the entity to find a road engineering solution to the persistent rise in the number of road crashes on the same road curve just after Makhado, involving buses and trucks.
