An intense fire has broken out in the Xakabantu Informal Settlement in Capricorn.
The fire is fanned by winds, making firefighting efforts difficult.
Firefighters from the City of Cape Town are onsite to monitor and manage flare ups.
Yesterday a tent housing asylum seekers caught fire near the Maitland cemetery, displacing over 240 people.
Another fire in Bredasdorp, is burning out of control. The Greater Overberg Fire Protection Association (FPA) said at around 3pm on Friday, the fire passed the town high-up in the mountain.
Communication networks are compromised.
Heat wave conditions are expected to continue over the West Coast, City of Cape Town and western parts of the Cape Winelands Districts of the Western Cape until Sunday.
