Infrastructure South Africa announced it was awarded a net zero carbon level 1 certificate by the Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA).

The certificate is to reduce emissions during the design phase of small clinics.

Infrastructure SA expressed appreciation, saying the certificate means small clinics will now be highly energy-efficient.

They will use renewable energy, on and off site, to reduce carbon emissions.

The updated designs will also reduce reliance on bulk services provided.

In addition, the building materials and services have been designed at green building best practice standards, including technologies related to water efficiency, waste reduction and energy efficiency.
