The Northern Cape Department of Roads and Public Works has highlighted a 46% vacancy rate as a significant challenge that is affecting performance.
Rehabilitation and grader availability is at about 30% against the Department’s 75% target.
This emerged at the Department’s two-day strategic planning session, in Upington.
Bentley Vass, MEC of Roads and Public Works in the Norther Cape, said the Department plans to critically examine performance areas requiring intervention, including road resealing, rehabilitation and grader availability.
Vass also said he would strengthen partnerships with SANRAL and municipalities.
