Over 108 000 residents were evacuated in Morocco, following torrential rains brought by storm Leonardo, since Tuesday this week.

The military evacuated over 81,000 residents north of Morocco, in the city of Ksar El-Kébir, in the Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region.

Another 14,133 were evacuated in Kenitra province, 9,728 in Sidi Kacem, and 2,853 in Sidi Slimane. 

The area has also had widespread power and water outages.

More heavy rains continue into the weekend, across northern Morocco.

About 52 people died in floodwaters in December, and 20- 50 injured, in the Safi Province, on the Atlantic coast of Morocco.
